That’s right, not the one with an open beta coming this weekend, but the game that a much younger me put countless hours into it back on the PS2. It’s a game whose life across online multiplayer was seemingly over with GameSpy’s shutdown a few years ago but found its way back out of a metaphorical rancor pit. Sure, I had updates of Mirage: Arcane Warfare and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in the queue, but along with it was a game I thought I’d never see there 2005’s Star Wars Battlefront II. Given the huge success of Battlefield 1, it’s hard to imagine that the sharing of one game mode could harm that franchise’s sales, but DICE may want to play it safe anyway.By Michael Owens 4 years ago Follow Tweetĭisney and GoG teamed up to breathe new life into the PC version of 2005’s Star Wars Battlefront II in a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.Īs I came home from the day job on Monday night and opened up Steam, I noticed something odd. Moreover, some have suggested that DICE doesn’t want there to be too much overlap between its hugely popular franchises. If the developer feels that most gamers approve of the tweaks that it has made and that many people enjoy the Supremacy game mode, DICE won’t want to undo the changes. It’s possible that this is the reason why DICE doesn’t want to add Conquest with Star Wars Battlefront 2.

Star Wars Battlefront did introduce Supremacy mode and on the game’s website Brännvall previously said that it will “excite fans of the Conquest mode from Battlefield.” The director also explained how DICE has made “several tweaks to improve the formula” but no everyone approves of those tweaks, as the Twitter poll indicates. Understandably, Battlefront fans are upset, not least because Conquest featured in other Battlefront games, Star Wars: Battlefront 1 and Star Wars: Battlefront 2.
